Interesting. The Chair of the Senate's Immigration Subcommittee is sounding pretty confident that an immigration plan will be signed by the President before 2009 is over.

Thanks for the reply. I've also got canadian immigration as a backup and my visa is valid till April 20. I was planning to go to canada and come back to US on parole but my friends advised me to wait as from march bulletin it looks like my PD for Oct 05 will become current hopefully in the next bulletin. I was told that I might put the US case in risk as you never know what could happen when you come back.
What do you guys suggest?

Looks like the pundits are saying that the House, and possily Senate, will fall into Democrat hands beginning January.
Here is what Robert Novak says:
The conventional wisdom about the 2006 elections among both Republicans and Democrats now is that the Democrats will take control of the House and could also win the Senate. One House Republican committee chairman, who publicly exudes optimism, privately predicts -- and has predicted for six months -- a loss of 30 House seats.

If that's a wisdom, no wonder Democrats are in no mood to compromise on CIR. That also explains the chilly reception to Hutshison-Pence. When the democrats have the house they'll craft a new immigraton package and compromise with the perhaps even more democrat-leaning senate. So 2007 is going to be the year of CIR. If the republicans are smart, they're going to try to get best immigration deal possible in the lameduck session before the 110th Congress starts in January. But the democrats may block it altogether. In that case the retrictionists are going to be sorry they didn't take the best deal when it was available (which look like now).

The only difference for you is you dont count under the cap for H1B quota. Everything else is same.

Big thanks to the entire group. We should not be happy unless we get our goals done.

Just to be contrarian, I think the recent H1-B and L-1 fee increase is an opportunity. Instead of playing a victim of legislative abuse, we should come out batting with an offense. We should get businesses to lobby for us. We should get congress people educated about the unfairness. We should not say the fee is wrong, because these are after all elected officials and they will not jeopardize their election prospects by going against this measure. So we should say ok take this fee but then provide us with administrative fixes that we want.
The H1B/L1 fees is designed to hit the body shopping business model. It is nothing but a
legal/labor cost arbitrage that most indian IT service shops follow.
The fees is not the last but the beginning and more will be piled on as they will come back again in a year or so to fund more "secure the mexican border" initiatives. It is a beast that can never be satisfied. The American It companies are not impacted by the 50% rules and they care less about it. So it the resistance effort will be very minimal...like it happened this time.

I was in similar situation during 2006. I applied for H1 1 year extension based on PERM approval. My LC was just 1 month old . Then premium processed my I-140, once I had my I-140, I then premium processed my H1 extension based on approved I-140. Finally got 3 year extension.

My EAD card is probably lost in the mail. Got approved on July 11th and never received so far . My current EAD expires on Augest 9th . I am in the risk of losing the Job. What are my options now .. Please advise ..

What I don't understand is why you are filing another I-140 when you already filed I-485? In any case you can use AC21 only after your 485 has been pending for more than 180 days.
