I downloaded the Sling Plug-in for Mac off the Slingbox site. When I click to start the installer that downloaded it pops up a box that "ask you to close Safari"??? while the installer is approx one minute from finishing the install and then it locks the progress bar..........when you close Safari as requested it then cancels the install and gives "Installation Failed" message ( well duh; I am forced to close the internet browser)

The simple fact that the Financial Times is a UK company and therefore their privacy policy actually means something kind of takes the wind out of your sails somewhat.
Just read their privacy policy and it is clear that they only send you junk email if you explicitly allow it. Plus as an ex-FT subscriber I can state I haven't received any junk mail of any kind.
Then why don't they let me explicitly allow it like Apple wants them to do?

That's why we use style tags to set a default font (yes, even in text areas) or fixed margins. If the W3 gives us the tools, then why should the browser render them void? That just makes no sense.
Safari is implementing a CSS3 feature with resizeable text areas. Apart from that, if your site design relies on fixed font sizes and text area sizes, they'll just break when the user Command-+/-'s the page. It will only break your site design if your site design is badly designed in the first place.
If you're worried about text areas overflowing other page elements then you can still use max-width and max-height to restrict growth and/or the overflow attribute so that scroll bars get introduced.
As one person pointed out in this thread, see the two arrows up ad down on the first line of the toolbar in this very textarea you type in to. It's very useful with long posts. That's why expandable text areas are a good idea.
It's actually not hard to do either. Look at http://www.aegisdesign.co.uk/examples/textarea/textexample.html and view the source for a simple example.
I'd disagree that designers should be making text areas 100% wide though. I've a 2560 wide screen. That'd be silly. Letting users on the other hand size it themselves and giving designers the tools to accommodate resizing is the way to go.
That's the most ridiculous statement I've read in this thread so far - and there are quite a few.
It's called the 'semantic web'. You may want to look it up. Decent web designers have been designing this way for some time where they can and the W3 want everyone to go this way.
The problem is of course with any of these new W3 features is that Microsoft have barely reached the basics in the CSS 2.1 standard yet in IE7. The chances of them supporting CSS3 anytime soon are slim. That means we'll still as designers have to support the older standards and only enlightened Firefox/Safari based designers will add on CSS3 based features should they prove compatible with IE7 and even IE6.

Sorry they're a bit crappy - just taken on my mobile phone. I can do others if anyone has specific requests!
PS. It doesn't have a CD installer with it - I just put it there for scale! All four of those photos are focused on the background instead of on the iPod. Would you please re-do making sure you are in focus?

Not surprising. Android is becoming the more dominant... thing.
Not the right reason...
I have a droid.(had iPhone on ATT but didnt get coverage at work/home) I payed an extra $100 to get the 1 year commitment in Nov 2009 just in case the CDMA iPhone came out a year later. Well it did come out a year later and my verizon contract was up. But I didnt get it because it was the same 8 month old phone and there is 0 chance I am going to get locked into a 2 year deal in january for a 8 month old phone that I wont be able to trade in until the June release 2.5 years later.
I'm surprised they are surprised.
This is. People who are or were with Verizon are now:

I don't like the idea. The moment they start chipping away at devices, it'll set a bad precedent for future negotiations. It'll be hard to get back those rights. Apple, hold strong!! :)

can you believe that four game that are going for .99 cents used to cost like $5000.00 each as a large arcade console just 28 years ago? Damn!
Or $30 for a cartridge even.

Apple really wants to squeeze out all potential sales of the iPhone 4 up until the last minute because they lost big time in 3GS sales for nearly 2 months after the leaked/stolen iPhone 4 incident.
I really hope that they will still push out the iPhone 5 in June despite all the rumors that it will be postponed to September.
That's what I'm hoping too for when my 3GS contract expires this summer.
But a white iPhone 4? No thanks Apple.
